Zum allerersten Mal fand die Star Wars Celebration Europe in Deutschland statt. Es war nach 2007 (in London) überhaupt erst die zweite Celebration in Europa. Somit Anlass genug um sich dieses Spektakel, welches man sonst nur in den USA oder Japan erleben kann, einmal näher anzuschauen. Nun was ist überhaupt eine Star Wars Celebration? Diese Frage stellt sich vor allem dem einen oder anderen nicht so mit dem Star Wars Universum Verbundenen. In erster Linie wird hier den Star Wars Fans die Möglichkeit geboten sich mit anderen Fans auszutauschen, sich zu präsentieren und in das Star Wars Universum abzutauchen. Hierzu gibt es Gesprächsrunden mit Machern und Stars der Filme, sowie der TV Serie Clone Wars. Darüber hinaus kann man, gegen Aufpreis, Autogramme von Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels und vielen weiteren Darstellern bekommen. Gerade diese Nähe der Stars zu den Fans ist etwas was die Star Wars Celebration ausmacht. Darüber hinaus kann der geneigte Fan so ziemlich alles hier kaufen was das Fan-Herz höher schlagen lässt. Angefangen mit Büchern, Figuren, Spielzeug, bis hin zu Laser-Schwertern und Kostümen, gibt es hier so gut wie alles zu Kaufen. Viele der Fans kommen zur Celebration bereits im Kostüm, um sich dann den anderen Fans oder Interessierten Besuchern zu Präsentieren. Wer sich schon immer mal neben Darth Vader, C-3PO, R2 – D2 oder vielen anderen Charakteren fotografieren lassen wollte, ist hier genau richtig. Apropos fotografieren lassen: viele Star Wars Clubs und Vereine Präsentieren sich auf der Celebration und das meist mit eigenen, aus den Filmen nachgebauten Kulissen oder Fluggeräten. Hier ist besonders der „R2-D2 Builders Club“ erwähnenswert. Dieser Club beschäftigt sich damit eigene, funktionstüchtige Druiden in Originalgröße nachzubauen. Diese „R2 Clone“ kann man sich hier anschauen, sich mit ihnen fotografieren lassen und auch live in Aktion erleben. Wer jetzt davon so begeistert ist und selber einen R2 bauen möchte, der kann Mitglied im Club werden. Die Mitglieder helfen sich dabei untereinander beim Bau des eigenen Druiden.Es gibt natürlich noch viel mehr zu entdecken, zu spielen und auch selber zu bauen. Was hier auch noch besonders hervorsticht sind die Filmvorführungen. Besonders die weltexklusive Vorführung von „Star Wars – Episode II - Angriff der Klonkrieger“ in 3D. Ursprünglich sollte dieser Film in 3D konvertiert in diesem Jahr wieder ins Kino kommen, wurde jedoch erst einmal verschoben. So haben die Fans nur hier die Möglichkeit den Film in 3D zu sehen. Das neu erzeugte 3D Bild ist dabei, alles in allem, gut gelungen. Fazit: Die Star Wars Celebration Europe 2013 bot für die Fans alles, um diese Fantasiewelt einmal live zu erleben. Ein großer Spaß für Jung und Alt. Gerade auch der Kontakt zu den Darstellern war eine tolle Erfahrung.
translated into English by Carsten Szagunn This year, for the very first time the Star Wars Celebration Europe took place in Germany. After the same event had been organised in London back in 2007, now this was the second Star Wars Celebration in Europe at all; so let's take the opportunity to take a closer look at this spectacle which otherwise only can be experienced in the USA or Japan. So, first of all, what actually IS a Star Wars Celebration? This might be a question especially for those who are not really connected with the Star Wars universe. Well, for the main part this event provides an opportunity for Star Wars fans to exchange among each other, to present themselves and to literally descend into the Star Wars universe. For this purpose discussion sessions with the producers and stars of the films as well as of the TV series 'Clone Wars' are being offered. Furthermore, for an extra charge it is possible to get autographs from Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and many other actors; and especially this closeness between stars and fans is what constitutes a Star Wars Celebration. In addition, beginning with books, action figures and toys to the point of lightsabers and costumes, the inclined fan here gets the opportunity to buy almost everything what makes a true fan's heart miss a beat. Many fans arrive at the Celebration already fully costumed to present themselves to other fans or interested visitors. So, who always wanted to pose for photographs together with Darth Vader, C-3PO, R2-D2 or many other characters, this is the right place! Apropos taking photos: also many Star Wars clubs and associations present themselves at the Celebration, very often with self-made scenery and aircrafts known from the movies. Particular worthyof mention is the “R2-D2 Builders Club”; this club concentrates on creating fully functional droids at full-scale. At the Celebration, you can take a look at those “R2 clones”, have a picture taken together with them and also see them live in action. Who now gets really enthused about building droids and cannot wait to create his own R2 has the possibility to become club member. The members aid one another with the construction of their appropriate droids. Of course, there is still much more to discover, to play with and also to construct by oneself. Really outstanding are also the movie screenings, this year especially the exclusive premiere of “Star Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones”, for the first time ever in 3D. The original concept of converting this film into 3D and showing it once again in the theaters this year has been deferred for now. Thus, this Celebration event offers the only possibility for the fans to watch the movie in 3D. The revised 3D images are, on the whole, technically well done. So as a conclusion one can say that the Star Wars Celebration Europe 2013 featured everything to let the fans experience their favorite fantasy universe once live, in particular the close contact with the actors was an amazing experience. A great pleasure for the young and the young at heart!
